Thank you for supporting Shepherd’s Center of Greensboro!

SCG is a registered 501(c)3 and all contributions are tax deductible while they help to further our interfaith mission of “older adults helping older adults.” There are many ways to contribute in a meaningful way, we have listed a few options:

By PayPal for online giving:

The easiest, safest and fastest way to add your support of our services is to click on the Donate button on the right side of this page.  Your gift will be acknowledged with a reply from PayPal and with a letter from the SCG office team. We love our online donors and look forward to hearing from you.

By Mail:

Gifts to the Annual Fund or to support the programs and services of SCG are the key to our success. Individual, association, and business donations may be mailed to:

Shepherd’s Center of Greensboro, 302 W. Market St., Room 103, Greensboro, NC 27401

If you would like your gift to honor or remember someone, please share their name (and address if applicable) and indicate whether your gift is in memory of or in honor of this individual.

Endowment:

You can choose to have your gifts reserved for long-term support of the Shepherd’s Center by contributing to:

  • the Charles & Mary Routh Endowment Fund. Established in 2010, this reserved fund was established to serve as a long-term investment with proceeds benefiting the ongoing operations of Shepherd’s Center of Greensboro. Details about this endowment can be found by clicking here:  Routh Endowment ”
  • or, the Ed Pring ShepNet Endowment, established in 2019. This fund serves as a long-term investment with its proceeds used for capital expenses needed at the ShepNet Computer & Technology center.  Details are found here: “Ed Pring ShepNet Endowment”

If mailing your gift, please be sure to note that your gift is designated for the Routh Endowment or the Ed Pring ShepNet Endowment.

Transfer of Stocks:

A charitable gift of securities may be a tax-wise decision for you while generously supporting Shepherd’s Center. A gift of stocks/bonds/mutual funds owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock has appreciated, you may also avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation while writing off the value of the stock at the time of transfer to our nonprofit.  Details for transfers should be discussed with our Executive Director, Sandy Doyle-Jones, 336.378.0766.

Saving on Taxes by donating portions of IRA/retirement funds:

Another way to share a charitable gift as a tax-wise decision may be to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution from your IRA. If you have reached age 70 1/2 or older, you are required to withdraw funds from your retirement accounts “RMD” and are subject to ordinary income tax. However, a person may give up to $100,000/year to a charity, tax-free, regardless of whether you itemize, and thus lower taxable and adjusted gross income. Your personal advisor may help you with distributing funds and how to report the gift. SCG meets the charitable qualification guidelines.  For details of RMD from IRAs, we have posted an article from one of our investment class instructors, Chad Barber. Click here.

Planned Giving:

You may wish to provide a gift to Shepherd’s Center that will impact older adults for years to come. You can include Shepherd’s Center of Greensboro in your will, as a beneficiary of life insurance proceeds or assets such as negotiable securities, mutual fund shares, certificates of deposit, or savings accounts in accordance with state laws.

Sponsorship:

Your congregation can make a difference by becoming an annual sponsor of Shepherd’s Center. A minimum contribution of just $200 per year will get your congregation listed on our letterhead and other materials. The Congregational Sponsors meet each year to discuss ways to support the changing needs of older adults in our community and in their congregational services.

Businesses may also support SCG by placing information about their services to seniors in the SCG Newsletter. Special event sponsorship is another great way to connect to the many older adults who participate in SCG events. Call the Executive Director for publishing guidelines and sponsor levels.

In Kind Support:

Donations of items such as office supplies, computer equipment, classroom space, printing services, or web/art design provide important operational savings that help keep our services affordable and available.

If you have any questions about making a donation please email the Shepherd’s Center office (info@shepctrg.org) or call us at 336.378.0766. We look forward to hearing from you!
