THE HUMAN RACE
The first day of Spring is Saturday, March 20, 2010 - the same day as The Human Race. The Human Race is a nationwide, community fundraising event that allows participants to raise money for their favorite nonprofit by running, walking, or rolling their way to the finish line on race day.
Help us welcome Springtime by participating on the Shepherd’s Center Walking Team. This is a great way to get exercise and socialize with friends while giving back to your community. and and every individual on our Team can collect donations for Shepherd’s Center. Funds will be used to:
- expand the Shepherd’s Wheels program by recruiting more drivers to provide necessary non-medical transportation for older adults in need
- provide scholarships for those who are less fortunate to attend our educational programs such as Adventures in Learning, Shepherd’s Travelers, and SeniorNet Computer Classes.
Our 2010 Goal is to raise $2,000.
To register to walk or run in the 5K Human Race,
contact Debbie Porter – dwporter@triad.rr.com or Barbara Walters – bwalters3602@triad.rr.com.
If you are not able to join us on Race day, you can still support Shepherd’s Center by donating online at www.active.com/donate/thehumanrace2010/ShepherdsCenterGSO.
